Stages of the Development Process
Site Assessment
After assessing a site as suitable for a wind turbine, One Wind Renewables enters into an agreement with the landowner for an ‘Option’ to lease the area of land required for the turbine for a period of 27 years. The landowner receives a payment for entering into this agreement whether or not the project is successful. We also cover all reasonable professional fees incurred.
Planning
One Wind Renewables formalises a planning application for the wind turbine with no cost to the landowner. We carry out all the necessary assessments to achieve planning permission, such as ecological surveys and visual assessments along with all the additional work required to take the project through planning. The landowner is not required to spend any time or money at any stage of this process.
Commissioning
Once a successful planning outcome is achieved, One Wind Renewables and our partners procure and install the turbine with no cost to the landowner, overseeing the process through to grid connection and commissioning of the wind turbine.
Operation
As soon as the turbine is operational, payments are made to the landowner for the lifetime of the project (20-25 years, see FAQs) based on the performance of the wind turbine. The landowner is not liable for any maintenance, service or upkeep costs of the development.
Decommissioning
Once the wind turbine has reached the end of its life, it is removed and the land re-instated to its former condition.
